Yieldbridge Aquaculture Ltd. was formed in 2022 with a mandate to plan and implement viable aquaculture and aquaponics* projects in conjunction with First Nations communities.

In March 2023, Yieldbridge Aquaculture acquired a controlling interest in an existing Steelhead (Rainbow) trout finfish farm at Lois Lake, BC. The farm includes a Recirculating Aquaculture System ("RAS") hatchery that has been in operation for more than two decades, and lake-based growout in proprietary solid walled tanks. The farm is now in the process of transitioning the operations to 100% land-based RAS.

Current Initiatives

Lois Lake, BC

Acknowledging political and other pressures impacting sustainability of lake or ocean based finfish farms, Yieldbridge wound down its lake-base operations (at Lois Lake) during 2023, in preparation for its planned transition to 100% land-based RAS. Preliminary planning has been completed, land based licensing has been renewed through to 2033, and permitting for increased water use and discharge is in progress for a 1,300 metric tonne production facility.
Yieldbridge is in discussions to transition the farm to majority First Nations ownership.
